Keep calm and press on!

Yes, here it finally is! Almost forgot to blog about this now even though I finished it yesterday, but then today work got in the way and of course I've been sorting through all the participants from the swap so that everyone will end up with a partner by tomorrow eevening! ;)

And we're up to 74 people now lol!

But anyway, here is my May block for the Quiet Play paper-pieced BOM.

"Keep calm and press on!"

Blocks January to May together.

Now I'll go back to matching partners, so you will get your details as soon as possible! It's all sooooo exciting! :D

72 is my lucky number!

I'm actually overwhelmed right now. I just entered the sign-up form for the Secret Tote Bag Swap and realised we had 72 participants!

Oh my God! Wow! Squeal! Jump!

Ok, deep breath!

I decided to close the form now, it's a little less than 2 hours till midnight here and we have an even number of participants, what more could I ask for? But now the real tough job begins, because I have to assign everyone with their partners.

I will use tomorrow and Friday to do that, so you will be getting an email by Friday night (European Summer Time). Once all partners have gone out, I will update the Flickr group and make a seperate blog-post, so you all know.

For now, if you want, you can join the Flickr group and meet everyone, we have 53 members there now! :)

Many thanks again to everyone who joined this swap, you guys are amazing and I so cannot wait to begin the stalking secret partners, the brain storming and the sewing! It's always so much fun to surprise someone and be surprised in return!

Very happy right now :)
xx Lia

P.S: If anyone is sad now because they didn't make it in time (I'm aware that it's not anywhere near midnight yet in the USA and elsewhere), if you reply to this post with your email address within the next 12 hours, I will get back to you once I'm home from work tomorrow :)

Monthly Book Challenge

Ok, the end of May has suddenly approached way too fast, but I managed to scratch one more thing off my to-do-list, which means I can finally link up to Angie's Monthly Book Challenge.

This month I picked the book "Quilted Gifts from your Scraps & Stash" by House of White Birches. I got this book for Christmas and there's a pillow in there, that's also actually on the cover of the book, that I wanted to make.

With the following pictures coming, you will notice that the pillow isn't looking anything like the one in the book, though (and I still want to make the actual pillow shown in the book!). That's because I turned two projects into one. I'm currently working on a gift for someone, so I can't reveal the front of the pillow as of yet, but I made the back with the same 'pattern' that is shown in the book and used the same quilting on it, too.

I suppose that counts for a book-made project then ;)

Now all I need to make is this month's block for Kristy's And Sew On paper-pieced sew-along!
Am gonna attack that one this afternoon!

So there's another post yet on the way ;)

Until then
xx Lia!

A much needed sewing fix! And an update for the Tote Bag Swap!

After a tight schedule at work for the past couple weeks, I've been using my Sundays to sew, even though I would actually have other important things to do, but I really just need one day in the week to sit down and have some me time.

So today was spent catching up on some paper-piecing with 3 more blocks of the Summer Sampler Sew-Along from Ellison Lane Quilts. Here are my versions.

Block 4 - Soft Serve Ice Cream

Block 5 - Milkshake

Block 6 - Chocolate Cake

I think these blocks are just too cute and like last week, I can't wait for the final 3 to be revealed in the coming week. I secretly hope that we'll get a lollipop and maybe another drink, maybe a cocktail. We'll see.

Here are all of the 6 blocks together. These will make a great mini quilt! :)

As the titel of this post already reveals, I also want to give you an update on my Secret Tote Bag Swap.
There are 3 more days to sign up. So if you still want to join, please do it now :)

We currently have 55 sign ups. Number 1 of those sign-ups is me, but I'm basically the joker here to make sure we get to an even number if sign-ups should be uneven. I would really love to join in, though. So I guess I will just have to do it twice then, if the numbers don't change till Wednesday.

I've also been asked repeatedly about the Flickr group that I created for this swap. It's not mandatory for the swap that you sign up to the Flickr group, but it would be fabulous if you could. I won't be forcing anyone to do so, if they don't want it, I just feel that it's a great way of getting to know the other swap partners and communicating with them, as well as showing off what you made and getting feedback on it.

I'm currently in several groups for swaps as well as sew-alongs and it's always nice to exchange with others, but like I said, I'll be the last person to force you into signing up, when you don't want to.

Also, I will make the link-up for your projects available on the main Tote Bag Swap page once I've emailed out your partner details, as I've had a few emails that named concerns about the deadline for the link-up since some of you will be on holiday at the time. This will assure that everyone has enough time to link.up their projects to get into the run for the prizes.

If there's any other questions you want to ask about the swap, please do not hesitate to email me!

And as a final note, I'll also be linking this post up to Kristy's Paper Piecing Party!

Paper Piecing Party

Until next time, happy sewing!

Summer Sampler Sew-Along

As mentioned in my previous post, I'm using this weekend to do some catching up with my sewing machine.
And here are the results so far, a few cute, paper-pieced blocks to go with the sew-along that I joined, hosted by Jennifer Mathis from Ellison Lane Quilts.
It's called the Summer Sampler Sew-Along and consists of 9 paper-pieced 6" blocks, that will be posted in a time frame of 3 weeks, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

As you can see I have 3 blocks done, because I had to catch up with the first week, due to a tight work schedule. But these blocks are whipped up quickly and I think they really just look quirky and cute, which means I can't wait for Block 4 to be revealed tomorrow! :)

Here are a few close-ups of each block.

Block 1 - Double Popsicle.

Block 2 - Lemonade

Block 3 - Cupcake

What are you working on right now? Any interesting BOM's or Sew-Alongs you joined? I still need to work on this month's block of the Quiet Play paper-pieced BOM, as well as my entry for Angie's monthly book challenge at Heart of Charnwood. I have NO idea what to do this time, but enough books to choose from lol!

Until next time!

So many goodies in the mail!

You may remember that one of my two entries at the Sweet Contrary Mosaic contest over at Rachel's blog Stitched in Color managed to make it into the top 10 for voting and then ended up 2nd place, which meant that Lark Cottons sent me my winning bundle. And it arrived today!

I really did a happy dance when seeing that I had a package from Lark Cottons and look at how pretty these are!

I also received this months (April actually) bundle of the Color Me Happy FQ Club from Sew Lux Fabric. I have a thing for grey at the moment, as you probably could tell ;)

Now what to do with all of these? I have no idea yet, but I'm sure it won't take me long to decide. Sometimes some fabrics are just waiting for their perfect moment to be used.

I'm also desperate to reveal the goodies that I made for my swap partner at the Secret Fabric Basket Swap that I joined last month. I shipped the basket off to it's new home a while ago, and even though the recipient resides within Europe and shipping shouldn't take this long, it doesn't seem to have arrived yet.

I know she's a follower of my blog, so I can't reveal too much, only the picture that I've also uploaded to the swap's group on Flickr :)

And talking about secret swaps, don't forget to sign up to my Secret Tote Bag Swap, if you haven't already.

Secret Tote Bag Swap

Sign-ups are open until the end of May (the 29th to be exact) and there are a couple great prizes for you to be won. Maybe you could help get the word around a bit, so that a few more people might join in ;)

Next project on my list? Catch up with several paper-pieced Sew-Alongs and BOM's.
Will keep you updated on that, it's a long weekend for me and I'm intending to use it to get a much needed sewing fix, so expect a new post soon!

Hope you have a fabulous weekend yourself and I'll see you next time!

And we have Winners! Plus an update on the Secret Swap!

Giveaway Day

I'm happy to announce the winners of my Sew, Mama, Sew Giveaway. Unfortunately we once again had several no-reply bloggers who did not include their email addresses in their posts, but luckily I didn't need to redraw as Mr. Random decided to solely pick followers of my blog! :)

So without further ado.

The winner of the $20 gift certificate for Superior Threads is Tami C!

The winner of the tote bag in coral colours is Calikisses!

And the winner of the tote bag in tangerine colours is Dee!

Congrats to the winners and of course everyone who joined in on my giveaway and also decided to become a follower! You're incredible! :)

I will be contacting the winners via email now to get their details. If there is no reply within 48 hours, I will redraw, so please check your inboxes.

Secret Tote Bag Swap

I'm also delighted to give you a little update on my Secret Tote Bag Swap. We now have almost 50 participants, and there's also another sponsor willing to contribute another prize for this swap. I can't reveal too many details yet though, but keep your sign-ups coming.

So far we have many, many entries from the USA, also England, Canada, Australia and we even have participants from Israel, South Africa, Sweden and me...from Germany lol!

You have until May 29, 2013 to sign up for this swap, that's another 2 and a half weeks time and it would be awesome if we got past the 50 participants and maybe closer to the 100 mark, although that may be wishful thinking on my part.

We'll see...

I will be opening a Flickr group closer to the end of the sign-up phase, so you can start brainstorming a bit on styles and bags you like :)

See you next time!

It's Giveaway Time! Plus a shameless plug for my Secret Swap...and a big WOOHOO for 100 followers!

Giveaway Day

Sew, Mama, Sew is hosting another Giveaway Day and since the last one was extremely successful, I decided to join in on the fun again.

So to everyone who is new here, a big and warm welcome! Have a look around my blog and maybe you like something that you see and want to become a follower and catch up in the future.

And while you're doing that, make sure you check out the Secret Swap that I'm currently hosting. It would be great if you'd join up, as there are some great prizes up for grabs and we already have over 30 sign-ups from all over the world!

Secret Tote Bag Swap

But now onto the reason that you're most likely reading this post for, the giveaway. So here's what you can win!

As a very special to all my lovely followers, old and treasured and also brandnew, and to celebrate that I reached 100 followers, I'm giving away a gift certificate worth $20 that was sponsored by Superior Threads.

This gift certificate can be used anywhere in their shops or online. They have a great range of quilting threads and their variegated thread is beautiful. I'm sure you won't be able to resist, I know I wouldn't! ;)

Please note, you can only win this gift certificate if you're a follower!

But that's not all!

Since I just promoted my Secret Swap, I will stick to the theme and give away these tote bags made with lovely spring colours and charms of Kate Spain's Honey, Honey collection. I adore these fabrics!

There are 2 tote bags to give away, one in tangerine and one in coral colours.

In order to win one of them, you have to do the following:

1.) For your first chance to win, just tell me wich one of the two bags you'd prefer, tangerine or coral.

Easy, right?

2.) For an additional entry and the chance on the gift certificate, become a follower of my blog for example through Google Friend Connect or Bloglovin' (links can be found to the top right of this blog) and comment that you did.
Of course all of my awesome, existing followers get this extra entry too! ;) All you need to do, is tell me that you're already a follower.

This giveaway is open until Friday, May 10, 2013 - 5 pm PST / Saturday, May 11, 2013 - 1 am GMT. International participants are highly welcome.

Please note that I reply to all comments that I get. So if you don't receive a reply, that means you're a no-reply blogger.
Comments from no reply bloggers will be deleted unless there's an email address stated within the comment that you left, so make sure I have a way of contacting you! If your email address isn't displayed in your blogger profile or you're unsure wether or not it is, just add your email address to your comment, because if I have no way to contact you, you can't win!

The winners will be picked with the help of Mr. Random and announced here on the blog within 24 hours of the end of this giveaway.

Good luck everyone and thanks for stopping by!
xx Lia

Update, May 11, 2013

Winners have been notified via email :)

Thank you!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! To each and everyone who voted for my entry at the Sweet Contrary Mosaic contest over at Rachel's blog Stitched in Color, because you pushed me to the second spot, which means I won my mosaic bundle!

I'm so stoked about that. And also, there's a limited amount of the winning bundles available at Lark Cottons, who were the sponsor for this contest. So if you want to get your hands on some of these fabrics, you need to be quick as there aren't that many bundles :)

This is not my only reason for a thank you post, though.
I'm 3 followers short of 100, according to my blogger and GFC stats, and all that in less than 6 months!

That's an even bigger reason for me to join the Sew, Mama, Sew Giveaway Day on Monday, May 6.

Giveaway Day

I will have a few prizes for you, so check back on Monday for your chance to win ;)

Many thanks to everyone for all your support!
