Triple-Zip Pouch Swap

Do you remember how I said, that I couldn't wait to cut into my California Road Trip bundle?
Today I did just that and the outcome is the pouch that I made for my secret partner in Stephanie's Triple-Zip Pouch Swap.

My partner asked for colourful and scrappy and I do know that this isn't really scrappy at all, but after a bit of stalking her Flickr account and her favourites on there, I noticed that she seems to love these colours. So the bundle seemed perfect when it arrived.

I really hope my partner will like this pouch, it has a detachable wrist strap like she asked for. And as a little tiny accessory I added a yoyo-flower that she can pin onto the pouch or anywhere else as desired.

Now I need to find some goodies to fill the bag with. What would you prefer? Notions or fabric scraps? Sweets? I need advice ;)

Have a great weekend everyone and see you next time!

Beautiful fabrics and a finished mug rug...

Today I received my order from Tactile Fabrics. Superfast from the USA as it only took 14 days! Yay!

I ordered Heidi Staples' blogger bundle 'The California Road Trip' there last month, after she had displayed it on her blog - Fabric Mutt.

I'm usually not such a big fan of blue, or actually, I don't have that much blue fabric in my stash, but seeing the yellow and blue combined just really spoke to me and the low volume text fabrics were added bonus. Plus, I already know what I'll be using these for, but I won't be saying anything yet. It will be revealed soon, though. ;)

On top of the Fabric Mutt Bundle I also bought the following FQ's, just love the one with the flowers and Jennifer added a bonus scrap of fabric as well. So nice! I'll definitely order there again as she offers a great service and beautiful range of fabrics.

Since today is my day off, I've been spending it sewing on my project for the Modern Scrappy Bits Swap. After needing 2 days to finish the paper-pieced block, I have today transformed it into a quilted mug rug and finished it with binding and all after I had to rush to the store in the afternoon because I foolishly had run out of invisible thread. That just shows that I'm such a rookie at freemotion quilting because I keep running out of thread when I do it, lol!

To get this piece flat enough to be a mug rug, I quilted it quite heavily, I just hope that my partner will like it. That's always the nail-biting part in swaps, isn't it?

And since the swap also requires at least a fatquarter worth of scraps in designer quilting fabric to go along with your swap item, I had a good look through my stash and dug the following out. My partner asked for colourful and modern, I hope this fits the criteria and meets her taste :)

Now I'm going to start planning the next project, which is also for a swap and will include some of my lovely new fabrics! Oh, I can't wait to play with them!

Have a happy and sunny day everyone!

Until next time,
xx Lia

Secret Tote Bag Swap - Sent, Received and Link-Up

Hi everyone!

As mentioned in my previous post, I was going to show you what I received in the mail yesterday coming from Carin in Sweden.

The fabrics she used are beautiful, the paper-pieced sheep has a small bead as eye, so cute! And the extra pouch that my tote bag came in, is beautifully quilted with my name on the front and Carin's signature on the back. I wish I could quilt like that! Also added was a lovely postcard from near where she lives. Did I ever mention that I collect postcards? So these swaps are great for more than one thing ;)

So that's what I received in the swap, here's what I sent to my partner Susan in England

To the tote I added a rainbow charm pack, buttons, some metallic thread and a cactus ring-pincushion I made. Then I wrapped everything in a piece of vintage sheets, why use paper...right? ;)
Sue loved everything, I suppose I literally hit the nail on the head, lol!

And since so many beautiful bags have been made in this swap, I'm adding the link-up to the bottom of this page, so they're on display for everyone to see.
Remember, if you joined the swap and made a bag, you can still link your bag up until the end of the month for your chance to win some fab prizes!

And for everyone who's been asking, the next swap will start in August with a shipping date of late September/early October and will be announced in the Flickr Group, so if you want to join, make sure you're a member of the group :)

Thanks so much for everyone who took part in the swap and made it a big success. When starting this project I never thought so many people would join up, considering it was the first swap I ever organised myself! You're an amazing bunch of super talented people! ;)

Sending out lots of Love

Time for a Party!!

That's Kristy's Paper Piecing Party to be exact!

Since I failed to make a blog post last Sunday, I will just show you what I made last week as well as this week.

I volunteered to be a pattern tester for Kristy's super cute Lego Star Wars patterns again. This time for one of my personal faves:

Kristy's original pattern asks for 3 different brown fabrics for the fur, I only used 2 brown fabrics for it and one solid for the eyes and mouth. Afterwards I used my fabric paints again to give him eyes and teeth. My mum loves him and I so can't wait to do more of these, but I have joined 3 swaps at the moment, so my days off from work and weekends are concentrating on finishing the swap projects.

I did so on Thursday this week (my day off) and today, finishing the probably most complicated paper-pieced pattern that I've done so far. It's called Nature's Bounty and I found the pattern for free on

It had me sweating and struggling, but I'm very pleased with how the seams turned out, considering that this pattern had 20 single pieces, but see for yourself:

This is my project for the Modern Scrappy Bits Swap. My partner likes birds, but I don't want to reveal too much and spoil the surprise. I just hope she'll like what I'm planning for her.

I just love swaps, they're so addicting and exciting and I just can't seem to stay away from them. It's just great to step out of your comfort zone and try new things you otherwise maybe wouldn't have done. And it's great to know something's in the mail and on its way to you and you have no idea what it even is, then get all bouncy when a package arrives! Love it!

The above happened yesteray, which is why there will be another post shortly ;)
xx Lia
